Dekameron 2021
2021
This project was developed as part of Dekameron 2021 at Aarhus Literature Center, focusing on both visual communication and technical execution of live cultural events across multiple locations.
As part of the project, I was responsible for the graphic design and layout of the anthology Lukket land, consisting of 100 texts by 10 authors in a wide range of formats. The task was to create a cohesive visual structure that could unify the diverse content while maintaining clarity and readability. In addition, I designed the cover, balancing the intentions of the authors, the publisher and the institution.
Alongside the graphic work, I contributed to the planning and execution of 10 livestreamed author talks across the Central Denmark Region. This included technical setup, coordination and on-site execution as camera operator and IT support.
The project combines editorial design with digital event production, resulting in a cohesive visual and technical framework for a large-scale cultural initiative.

"Karoline Relster was employed as IT support and graphic designer at Aarhus Literature Center as part of the project Dekameron 2021 from June 2021 to September 2021.
As IT support, Karoline contributed to the execution of 10 livestreamed author talks across 10 municipalities in the Central Denmark Region. She played a significant role in ensuring the livestreams ran smoothly and solved many tasks throughout the process. Karoline has:
- Helped plan 10 livestreams across 10 different locations
- Provided IT support for the 10 municipalities and advised them on how to execute livestreams and what equipment was needed
- Worked as a camera operator for several livestreams and as a photographer during the events
- Been responsible for the technical execution of the livestreams
As a graphic designer on the Dekameron 2021 project, Karoline created the graphic design and layout of the anthology Lukket land, published by Silkefyret on November 9, 2021. The anthology consists of 100 texts written by 10 authors in very different formats. Creating a cohesive layout was a challenge, but Karoline solved it very successfully. She also designed a cover that reflects the wishes of the authors, the publisher Silkefyret, and Aarhus Literature Center.
We have greatly appreciated Karoline’s contribution to the project and wish her all the best in the future.
